Kevin Drum discusses the phone calls Rove is known to have made to Matt Cooper.
First Rove said he hadn't made the call. Mark Kleiman points out that he didn't log the call. Unfortunately for Rove, Cooper did record it. Sounds like Karl didn't want a record of what he was doing to be kept.
So then Karl admitted that he had spoken to Cooper, but said that it was about Welfare Reform.
Kevin ends with the statement "Since call logging is standard procedure, this could only happen if Rove specifically asked one of his aides not to log the call.
"Evidence of consciousness of guilt"? Sounds like a reasonable proposition to me."
Karl, the noose keeps getting tighter, and your horse is acting antsy like he wants to run. How long 'til he gets spooked and you are hanging there from that ole White Oak Tree with your feet several feet off the ground?
The entire Republican Party establishment is sitting with bated breath to see what happens next, and hoping their control of the media can minimize the damage.
That may be one reason why Paul Hackett got 48% of the vote to Jean Schmidt's 52% in Ohio second district Tuesday. Such a close race in a district that normally goes for the Republican by 70% to 30% or thereabouts is not a good omen for the Republicans.
