The leaked British memo on troop drawdown in Iraq

I have been predicting that Bush will withdraw the troops from Iraq by late next Summer See second from last paragraph here - June 5th) because the Republicans cannot run for reelection in November 2006 on the increasingly unpopular war. Bush, however, refuses to set a timetable or even conditions for troop withdrawal. This puts the Republicans into a dilemma for the next election. Tony Blair has the same problem of the unpopularity of the Iraq war, especially after the terrorist bombings last week in London.

So what happens? Someone leaks a classified memo that sets up a timetable for American and British troop withdrawal - down by half by next Summer.

Billmon sees my paranoia and raises it. Go read.

We have entered the land of the classic question - are we really paranoid when there are people out there who are really trying to get us? [If anyone asks, I'll tell you how a clinical psychologist I know answered that question.]
