How can he tell that Americans are uninformed?

Simple. Americans have shown that they don't agree with and accept the latest line out of the Pentagon. recognize the many and varied activities the Pentagom is performing on their behalf.

So how will the Secretary of Defenses solve this obvious problem?

Simple. The Pentagon will continue to maintain tight control over the movements and reporting by embedded reporters, while providing greater quantities of propaganda information on the Pentagon website.
