Mugabe is committing Cambodia-level genocide

The poorest city dwellers in Zimbabwe consistently vote against Mugabe and are his biggest political threat. Think the solution is to get jobs and food to those people? Not according to Mugabe. He thinks they should return to the countryside and take personal responsibility for their lives.

So Mugabe is going to "help" them. His bulldozers, in a campaign called Operation Murambatsvina (a Shona word meaning "drive out the rubbish) is destroying the homes of the underclass in the cities. The New York Times has the story. Shades of Cambodia and Pol Pot.

Bush, tied down in his disaster in Iraq, is no doubt ignoring the whole issue. Zimbabwe doesn't have any oil, does it?

[Thanks to Redstate.org which directed me to this story. Charles Bird there does a good job of pulling together data from several sources.]
