Army finally releases Recruitment results. Results not good.

Kos of Daily Kos comments on today's New York Times article on the Army's recruitment results. As expected, those results were poor. The Army first reduced the goal they attempted to achieve, and then only recruited 75% of the number they claimed they needed.

The war in Iraq is becoming less popular, and it is a lot less popular among the parents of potential new Army recruits.

Nothing really unexpected (see Iraq to be a long slow slog and Rumsfelds Legacy) but it is very different from the positive spin the White House is giving out.

The unremitting disaster in Iraq is already clear. It is the changing of perceptions in America is going to have real political consequences. This recruitment report is an indicator of those perceptions.
