Lieberman confirms that if he loses Dem Primary he'll bolt party and run as independent

Joe Lieberman has read the handrwriting on the wall. He has confirmed the rumors that he will collect signatures and run as an independent. Of course, if the Democrats nominate him in the contested primary August 8, he'll run as a Democrat. U.S. News & World Report has the story.

Christy Hardin at FireDogLake has a really good question. "Anyone know of a three-term Senator that has ever had to make such a WATB sore loser threat to petition for independent status on the ballot if they lost their party’s primary?"

This story is also being carried by
  1. the Hartford Courant,
  2. the AP and
  3. Kos at dKos
Thanks to Christy at FireDogLake for the first two links.
