Raw Story reports that the San Diego County Voters Registrar will be asked to conduct a county-paid hand recount of the votes in the special election to fill the seat vacated when Randy "Duke" Cunningham resigned to go to jail. Numerous organizations question the reliability of the uncertified Dieblod electronic voting machines used in the election, particularly since the Voter Registrar allowed election judged to take the machines home with them for up to two weeks prior to the election.
The Diebold voting machines have been demonstrated to be easliy "hackable" in a way so tbat a single person could overturn an election.
