The President's address last night

Josh Marshall reports that in New Orleans, the lights were turned on 30 minutes before the President's address, and then the power in New Orleans was turned back off when he left. More trickery-fakery for the cameras to conceal the incompetence and uncaringness of the Bush administration.

Just remember. When you elect Bush and the conservatives, you don't have a government. They own it and they don't share.

Brian Williams described the situation on his blog (referred to by Josh Marshall) and has a transcript of the President's address.

Since Bush is merely attempting to repair the political damage he has suffered because by his own incompetence and uncaring attitude, I will not bother to comment on it at this time. However, in the middle of the text of Bush's speech there is a poll on whether Bush has made up for his initial missteps. (poll) At this moment it is 68% negative ("No. There's no making up for the initial missteps."), 26% positive ("Yes. This is a bold response to a terrible disaster."), 6% don't know out of 74424 responses. The poll is unscientific, of course.
