Bush philosophy: If you can't govern, you need to be a good liar.

The federal response to the natural disaster of Katrina has been itself a massive disaster. The Bush administration once again displays its talent for failure.

The Bush administration which could not head off, warn of, or adequately prepare for, 9/11 and which followed that incompetent piece of governing by an inadequately planned and conducted occupation of Iraq (that was only necessary because of their unneeded and unjustified invasion) has again demonstrated that it is not competent to govern.

Having proven time and again that they cannot govern, the Bush admininstration and the Republican Party naturally retreat to what they are normally very good at. They lie!

It is obvious that FEMA and the Bush administration have totally screwed up the federal disaster relief efforts and screwed over the local disaster relief efforts. Do they redouble their efforts to try to get it right? No, they blame Gov. Blanco of Louisiana for not having declared a state of emergency.

Not true. They are slipping. This isn't even a competent lie. Here is the record from Kevin Drum:
August 26: Blanco declares a state level state of emergency.
August 27: Blanco asks the president to declare a federal state of emergency for the state of Louisiana.
August 27: Bush declares a federal state of emergency for Louisiana.
They have time and again proven they can't govern over the last four sad years. No surprise. They have claimed they don't WANT to govern, and want to drown government. They haven't been even slightly secretive about wha they want. Now they have what they wanted. No effective government. One for which they are totally responsible.

But after getting what they want, they no longer want to admit responsibility for what they have created. So naturally, they are tryin to lie their way out of responsiblity for what they wanted and created.

Now they have fallen so low that they can't even put together a competent lie to cover the rest of their incompetene behaviors.
