How the deputies "helped" the refugees

After Sheperd Smith reported about the refugees congregating on the freeway last Thursday, the Gretna Parish Sherrifs Deputies came up to take care of the problem. They sent a helicopter to blow down the flimsey shelters and armed deputies to tell the refugees to get out of there. See Digby.

But hey, the refugees were Black, and on TV. They were a threat to good order, of course. If you are a white Gretna Sherriff they certainly were a threat. At least to their PR reputation.
