Reporting in Iraq is Getting Much More Difficult

Debora Amos of National Public Radio gives a description of what it takes today to report in Iraq.

In summary, the expense has gotten so high that free lancers no longer operate there and some companies will probably stop covering the country. The danger has gotten so great that reporters dare not go out to report. Instead they have to depend on Iraqi stringers. The military has gotten much more sophisticated in how they manage reporters, so that reports the military does not want out are very rare.

In short, we know less and less about what is actually going on there and it will continue to get worse, not better.
