Poorer states more religious;

Kevin Drum has posted another of his charts of interesting thing. This time the question is: Is a state more religious if it is poorer?

The numbers say that the answer it yea. Less wealth means more religiosity.

This is a state-by-state follow up to the earlier posting where he gave the same kinds of numbers for nations. The result of that study is the same. Either as people get more religious, they get less wealthy, or as people get more wealthy they get less religious. Since these charts show associations, the direction of cause-and-effect cannot be determined.

I like charts. They give a whole lot of information at a glance. Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to post them in blogger. So go look at Kevin's charts.
