Journalistic professionalism and complaints from the blogosphere

According to Newsweek editor Jon Meacham, complaints from the blogosphere are useful only if they drive traffic to Newsweeks' site. The fact that the links are about really poor journalistic practices are irrelevant. Good journalists should get both left and right blogosphere commenters equally irate resulting in increased traffic. Nothing else matters.

Do journalism schools teach that the only thing that matters in good journalism is equally balanced anger and complaints from the right and the left along with high traffic? Who knew?
