There is no military solution in Iraq - Surgelet* will fail

Want a peek into the complexities of the problem in Baghdad? Not Iraq, just bringing stability to Baghdad? Go read this by Larry Johnson. (Here is his Bio.)

Don't just look at the complexities of the Iraqi situation. Look also at what the new the new U.S. ground commander, Lt. Gen. Raymond T. Odierno had to say. Anyone who is that wrong is going to have real problems in Iraq, even if he is a quick study.

Larry's best statement is this "Odierno wants to fight Iraq with the Iraqis he wished existed rather than the sectarian groups who acutally exist. If he persists believing in an Iraq that does not really exist he will fail." Then Larry goes on to explain what he means.
