Will Tenet tell all about 9/11 failures?

Digby has an interesting story.

When George Tenet left the job of CIA Director he had an agreement with the White House to not tell the story of the faioures that led to 9/11 as long as he was not to be scapegoated on 9/11. Because of this agreement, he turned down a $4.5 million advance for a book on the subject and was given the Medal of Freedom by G. W. Bush.

Now the CIA IG has prepared a report that is the result of a 17 month investigation that recommends that Tenet and several high-ranking CIA administrators be punished for their failures in the run-up to 9/11 and presented it to Congress. Tenet has provided a rebuttal. Both are classified, something not normally done in these kinds of CIA after action reports on Intelligence failures.

Digby thinks this may break the deal and cause Tenet to open up and tell stories and name names. It may even be possible for the $4.5 million advance for the book to reappear.

We may be getting close to finding out what the Bush administration did and failed to do that let 9/11 happen. The 9/11 wived are pressuring for the CIA report and Tenet's rebuttal to be declassified and released.
