McCain babbles on in failed effort to cover economic gaffe

If you watched Sarah Palin's Moose-in-the-headlights moment as she tried to figure out what Charley Gibson meant by "The Bush Doctrine" you probably noticed that she immediately followed that moment up with a blizzard of words to cover her total non comprehension. That's what we in the military used to call an effort to "baffle them with Bullshit." Remember Charley looking at her after the torrent of non-responsive words and saying essentially "You've lost me in all those words?"

Yesterday McCain made a routine Bush-lite statement about the economy, something it is clear that he neither understands nor is interested in.[*] McCain said "The economy is fundamentally sound."

Bad move. Somehow it seems obvious to everyone but John McCain that the day after one of the four largest financial banks on Wall Street goes into Chapter 11 bankruptcy to be sold off and a second of the four sells itself to Bank of America in a stock transfer (no cash) there is something really unsound in the economy. McCain had his own Moose-in-the-headlights moment, and has been rightly jumped on for his ignorance. Just like his sidekick, McCain has also followed up by an effort to "Baffle them with Bullshit" On ABC this morning. Unfortunately, all he has succeeded in doing is digging the hole he is in deeper.

Scarecrow has the story over at Firedoglake.

[*]When you are as wealthy as McCain, you don't need to understand the economy. It's not going to impact you.
