The Bush administration has been spreading a lot of numbers around that purportedly show that the surge has been 'successful.' Has it? Well, it depends on how good the numbers really are.
Karen DeYoung has published a story on those numbers and there sources. The headline tells the story - "Experts Doubt Drop In Violence in Iraq: Military Statistics Called Into Question." The story is published on page A16 of today's Washington Post.
The short story is that the numbers simply don't support any assertions that the surge has worked. Just like in Vietnam, the government is trying to pass off fake numbers or badly analyzed numbers to prove what they want the American people to buy.
