Mark Kleiman has a really good point about McCain. Anyone who is concerned that either Clinton or Obama might have difficulty defeating john McCain if he is the republican nominee for President ought to look at what happened to the similarly extremist militaristic Goldwater in 1964. McCain has certainly set himself up for such an image.
As for the Media's fawning support for McCain, forget it. The political reporters in Washington love to set someone up just so they can tear them down later. They love it. It makes them believe that they are objective.
